Good News! We have scheduled a couple of Speech and Handwriting Recognition Training Workshops for this summer at Spring Valley High School, Columbia, South Carolina, on Thursday, July 19, 2007 and Daniel Morgan Technology Center on Friday, July 20, 2007. The workshops last for one day only and are held between 8:30am to 4:30pm. The workshops will cover basic concepts of voice and handwriting recognition, which includes customizing the software, utilizing the vocabulary editor, dictation shortcuts, new software features and commands, etc. The best news is the state is willing to pick up $175 per person of the training and materials fee for the first 15 participants ONLY. At the recent state SCBEA conference, many business education teachers expressed interest in attending a comprehensive Speech and Handwriting Recognition Training Workshop in their area to learn what they need to know and do to implement this technology effectively. If you attended a workshop over two years ago, you may want to take the course again to learn the new teaching strategies and receive the updated resources. We always bring more advanced exercises and strategies so we will have something for those who have been trained or are experienced with the software.

The registration deadline is Friday, June 29, 2007. If you plan to attend, please complete the registration form and email a copy to me as soon as possible to make sure you are in the first 15 spots. Payment should be made by date of training. If you cannot get the check cut by date of training, let me know. I will work with you to get an invoice sent after the training if necessary.
